David is a Chemical Engineer by training, a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the UK's IChemE, as well as a senior member of AIChE and ISA. David started his career in engineering in the UK in 1985 with various positions in process engineering, automation, IT, project management and operations management. In 2007, having met Ian on a control room project, he joined UCDS for the first time. He spent the next few years working on a range of operator performance projects under Ian's mentorship. David then worked for a systems integrator for a while before returning to UCDS in 2011 as the VP of Operations. In 2018 David joined Emerson where he was an operator performance consultant, resource manager and an industrial software solution consultant. He rejoined UCDS in 2023 as President, taking over the running of the company from Ian whilst continuing to act as a consultant on client projects. He is an active member of ISA and is currently the Standards and Practices Chair as well as serving on multiple standards committees for ISA and IEC. David's varied experience allows him to help clients not only in operator performance initiatives but also the application of technologies to effectively manage their digital transformation programs.
