The SINTEF acronym stands for The Foundation for Scientific and Industrial Research at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH).

CRIOP is the leading methodology to verify and validate the ability of a control center to safely and effectively handle all modes of operations including start up, normal operations, maintenance and revision maintenance, process disturbances, safety critical situations and shut down.

The methodology can be applied to central control rooms, driller's cabins, cranes, as well as other types of cabins, onshore, offshore, and emergency control rooms.

UCDS consultants adapt CRIOP from the SINTEF CRIOP User Group and perform CRIOP analyses for clientele, including Citgo (Texas), to verify and validate the ability of a control center to safely and effectively handle all modes of operation.

Process Plant Computing Limited (PPCL)
Ppcl.com

UCDS worked with PPCL on alarm management projects for Big West Oil, P66, Atlantic, Borregaard, focusing on alarm rationalization.

Founded in 1994, Process Plant Computing Limited (PPCL) is the brainchild of Dr. Robin Brooks. Dr. Brooks spent many years studying multi-dimensional geometry and parallel coordinate transformation, before forming the company.

The driving force was the hope to further develop his research and apply it to the process industries of the world. This research has led to the granting of nine patents and the creation of 'equation-less' process modeling. In turn, this has led to the integration of process control, quality control, and process alarms, and the creation of what is believed to be the first-ever general method of calculating values for alarm limits and alerts.
